The Ship Be Sinking

Mouth Almighty

As always, I don’t know if it’s true, but if it is- why would you sign a 48 year old center with 68 year old knees, given that the only way you’d have the funds to sign him is if you do not pull off the fabled LeBosh jackpot? At that point you’re throwing retard money after Camby and Joe Johnson, players getting worse with each game they play and who don’t constitute a winning core anyway. You’re locking yourself into 45 win hell with second-order players on the downslope of their careers, which is precisely the wrong thing to do. This was why I was against trading draft picks for cap space, and why I worry that a mishandled summer which doesn’t constitute a serious rebuild is going to accidentally kill off the idea of rebuilding in New York for good by tying it to a botched grab for over-priced roleplayers. It’s not impossible to do this the right way; the Thunder are a great example of a successful rebuild along the lines I suggest. The Knicks appear to be trying to do it quick and dirty, and they may end by not getting it done at all.
